ABOUT THE MUSEUM OF THE WEIRD

The Museum of the Weird is an inspired secret of downtown Austin. Originally a gift shop known as Lucky Lizard Curios & Gifts, the owners decided to create a showcase for their collection of strange objects that were not available for sale.

People used to come in to see the pet lizards that were the shop’s namesake, but soon word began to spread about the fantastic things on display there.

Thus, the Museum of the Weird was opened to the public in 2007. The museum was an instant hit. The weird collections include deformed animals, mummies, shrunken heads, fiji mermaids, and more. The museum is one of the only remaining dime museums in the United States.

The admission to the museum starts at $12 for adults. But there are several ways to save on admission below.
