Now you can live the past through Pioneer Farms! You will get to experience the colorful 1800s first hand, and learn more about what life was like back then.
HISTORY OF THE PIONEER FARMS
Pioneer Farms is home to six historic areas in Austin, Texas where you can take walking tours. You’ll enjoy the fresh air and learn more about what it was like to live as a Pilgrim in the 1800s!
Here you’ll walk through the past as you visit the exhibits:
- an 1841 Tonkawa encampment
- 1850’s Walnut Creek greenbelt
- 1868 German Emigrant Farm
- a Texan farm from 1873
- an 1887 cotton planter’s farm
- a rural village from 1899
All together, they total more than 90 acres of well-preserved historic significance.
Also, you don’t want to miss the Scarborough Barn where you can get up close with farm animals. Pioneer Farms also conducts D.I.Y Workshops to expand your skills. Most importantly, they’ll let you relive the past through their colorful narrations complete with actors in costumes to truly bring the 1800s to life.

Admission to the Pioneer Farms starts at $8 for adults. But there are a lot of ways to score some discounts.
